Summary: The HELIOS initiative, coordinated by MENON, started in January 2005 and will run for a period of two years.
In collaboration with the European Commission HELIOS aims to establish and consolidate a sustainable observation platform able to dynamically monitor the progress of e-Learning in Europe vis-ŕ-vis policy objectives and to forecast future scenarios of e-Learning evolution.
HELIOS aims at observing the impact of eLearning on a number of thematic policy priorities. In particular,
HELIOS will be able to “filter” the existing information though a set of policy areas and so to show not only the state of development of eLearning, but also the impact of eLearning on the following policy priorities:
- Access to learning
- Employability
- Personal development/citizenship
- Internationalisation of Education and Training
- Organisational change
- Innovation of Education and Training
Helios has set up a reporting mechanism that will produce brand new reports every four months based on desk research and on a set of exstensive surveys carried on with the support of cedefop's electronic training village.
