Network
EDEN - the European Distance and E-Learning Network, established in 1991, is the most comprehensive European association in open, flexible, distance and e-learning.
This non-governmental educational association exists to share knowledge and improve understanding for professionals in distance and eLearning across the whole of Europe and beyond, and to promote policy and practice in this field. EDEN has over 200 institutional members and 1100 individual members in the Network of Academics and Professionals.
Objectives and Activities
The aim of the association is to foster developments in open, distance, flexible and eLearning providing a platform for all the regions and countries of Europe for co-operation and collaboration between institutions, networks companies and other agencies in the field. The association may also develop links with non-European associations and institutions.
As a meeting place, EDEN assists a wide range of European institutions, networks and individuals in engaging in professional co-operation. EDEN holds annual conferences; additional conferences on research and on the schools sector every two years; has launched and supports the European Journal of Open, Distance and eLearning, and provides support for a range of projects in the European sphere.
The role of EuroPACE ivzw in EDEN?
EuroPACE is member of EDEN and vice-versa. EuroPACE actively participates in networking activities and conferences organized by this network.
EDEN was and is also involved in a series of projects (eg. REVE, SPUTNIC).
