Summary: Project on 'Quality' in the framework of the European Commission e-learning Action Plan. The SEEQUEL project, supported in frames of the EU e-learning initiative, originates from the e-learning Industry Group (eLIG) and from a number of European expert organisations and associations, co-ordinated by the MENON Network. The related activities address the need for a common strategy to define and implement international quality standards. A highlight of the conference will be the launch of the e-learning Quality Laboratory. The main objectives of the SEEQUEL project are to bring together the main actors involved in the development of and use of e-learning and further developing a common understanding of quality and providing the criteria for its assessment and such finally reach an overall quality framework for e-learning in Europe.
Role of EuroPACE:
- Coordinator of the Desk research (Phase I project) on existing initiatives, examples of good practice etc. in the field of Quality in e-learning for the different stakeholder categories.
- Coordinator work package on Quality in e-learning in Higher Education: a.o.
- Host of the Forum on Quality in e-learning in Higher Education EUROPEAN e-learning QUALITY FORUM

- EuroPACE organised two international workshops on quality in e-learning in Higher Education:
The first one in the framework of the SEEQUEL conference (Granada , November 2003).
The second one in Budapest , following the EDEN conference, on 21-22 June 2004 in cooperation with the University of Edinburgh.
In the framework of the SEEQUEL European E-learning Quality Conference. This conference provided the opportunity for an exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices in the field of e-learning quality within the different contexts of both academic and corporate provision, and presented the structure and the first results of the SEEQUEL e-learning Quality Laboratory.
In the frame of the Online Educa 2004 in Berlin ( www.online-educa.com ) the EQO, SEEL and SEEQUEL projects launched the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning. The European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning approaches quality in e-learning from different and complementary perspectives and thus develop full-scale services for all educational fields, regional contexts and target groups. The Foundation aims at building a sustainable and proactive network of actors and thus providing valuable services to the European e-learning community.
